KC Bariatric is one of the only weight loss surgery centers in Kansas City that is in-network and designated as a Center of Excellence facility with all major carriers. Bariatric surgery is often considered a medical necessity; therefore, many insurance companies do fully or partially cover bariatric surgery. Bariatric surgery requires pre-authorization from your insurance company. Contact your insurance company to ask if bariatric surgery is a covered benefit. Your insurance benefits depend on your coverage, your deductible, and your maximum out-of-pocket costs. It is also necessary to ask if there are any exclusions to weight loss surgery in your plan.

KC Bariatric not only accepts almost all major health insurances, but we also hold exclusive contracts with most major insurance companies. This allows us to provide care due to our superior results, lowest complication rates, and our distinction as a Comprehensive Bariatric Center through our program affiliation with the Bariatric Center of Kansas City. KC Bariatric accepts most common insurance plans: including United Healthcare, Aetna, Humana Choice Care, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and AARP, as well as Tricare Standard and Tricare For Life and Medicare. KC Bariatric is contracted with many more insurance companies, so be sure to call your provider.

Private Pay

We do offer private-pay options that help if insurance will not cover bariatric surgery. Many insurance plans require a 2-6 month medically supervised weight loss program before approval for bariatric surgery. If you don’t have insurance, don’t meet medical necessity or weight requirements (set by your insurance), or have an exclusion on your insurance policy our private-pay option is a faster alternative. Private-pay is a competitively priced surgery package available for patients planning to pay with cash.
