“My weight loss journey has been quite an adventure. I started gaining weight in middle school, even though I was always active. I tried every diet out there, but nothing ever worked.
In my early 20s, I got married and became pregnant, but suffered a miscarriage. My doctor blamed my weight. After a second miscarriage – losing twins – I was diagnosed with PCOS and endometriosis, yet my weight was still treated as the cause. After multiple doctors, procedures, and the loss of five children, I ultimately had a complete hysterectomy at 27. Throughout it all, my weight was always part of the conversation.
I was constantly on the go and working long hours. I tried multiple weight loss medications with no success and too many side effects. When I came to Kansas City Bariatric, everything changed. Dr. Hoehn took the time to talk with me – not at me – and for the first time, I felt truly seen by a doctor.
He performed my gastric sleeve on November 22, 2021. At my highest weight, I was 385 lbs. With the care, compassion, and encouragement from my family and Kansas City Bariatric, I have lost 236 lbs and reached my goals.
I can work 12-hour days without the strain, run with my husband and daughter, ride roller coasters, and even go horseback riding. The sky is the limit.
